Looks like the crazy gene got passed on

“Princess Aiko, the only child of Crown Prince Naruhito and Crown Princess Masako, and a second-grader at Gakushuin Primary School has been reluctant to attend school since Monday after being ‘‘treated harshly’’ by boys in her grade, an official of the Imperial Household Agency said Friday.  The 8-year-old princess has been complaining of strong anxiety and stomachache, said Issei Nomura, the top aide to the crown prince and princess.  Nomura, grand master of the crown prince’s household, told a regular news conference that the princess attended school Tuesday but left school early. She has since been absent from school.
Motomasa Higashisono, a senior director of the Gakushuin School Corporation that runs a range of schools from kindergarten to university, said the princess ‘‘got scared Tuesday when she went by a boy who dashed out of a classroom.”

This seems to be pretty big news in Japan right now.  Even the Prime Minister has weighed in on it, saying that he hopes that the little princess recovers soon (which may or may not be likely if her mother is anything to go by).   I’m telling you, it looks like all-out war in the Imperial Palace right now.  Did you know that Prince Akishino (the younger brother of Naruhito) and his vastly popular wife Princess Kiko are breaking off long-held ties with Gakushuin school, by no longer sending their own children there?  It caused a bit of a stir when it was reported a couple of months ago, and really made me think: just why are they doing that?  Trying to distance themselves from little Aiko and her parents?  What’s going on now?  Juicier and juicier!

My word. What a shame they didn’t pass on some useful skills, like beating the crap out of bullies.

It looks less like a case of bullying, and more like a spoilt little princess adopting her mother’s coping tactics for getting out of doing stuff she doesn’t want to do. Here is a pretty balanced overview of the situation. The princess was apparently spooked by some boys behaving rowdily in the corridors. It’s highly doubtful that any (intentional) violence was involved.

I am mystified that the IHA is making the whole thing public. What are they trying to prove?

That mother AND daughter are “unstable” and that the crown prince would be better off with a divorce?

  4. Karen says:

I think the IHA is trying to stifle any possible moves to make her the heir to the throne.

  5. Miko says:

Back to school but only for one period.

Okay, the rumour that I’m hearing now is that it’s becoming harder and harder to hide the fact that Aiko is autistic or mentally disabled. Hence this incident could be an excuse to withdraw her from the school system?

I hear all sorts of weird shit. One thing’s for certain, that is not a very happy family.
