And some of us have come full circle. At the start of this article, I was fully prepared to hate the woman who wrote it, who seemed to epitomise everything I detest about educated females (especially if they are young, white and American) who choose to live by the old male rules. By the end of it however, I was filled with admiration for the way she got through her struggles, which were considerable, and was only sorry that her marriage didn’t survive the turmoil. I still think that she could’ve tried harder to work things out with her husband, in light of the fact that they had dependent children and that apart from the fraud thing, he wasn’t such a bad bloke after all. But I guess that’s what happens to women who get a taste of (financial) freedom. Once they’ve had it, there’s no going back. Here’s hoping her book does well, anyway!
