How I love this country

Stuff like the following makes headline news:

A 39-year-old man was seriously injured after being stabbed by an unidentified man on his way to work in Osaka on Tuesday morning, police said.  The two men were passing each other when their umbrellas hit. After being yelled at by the man, the victim got off his bicycle and the two had a row, resulting in one of them stabbing the other.

Bicyles … umbrellas … stabbings …  just how dangerous can this country get?

Well, that is pretty funny. I can just see women walloping each other with their hefty handbags too.

Is this a sign that Japanese are cracking more and more under the strain of living a live in a society full of repression?

Yes, I definitely see a lot more weirdos and street altercations these days, but still nowhere near the number I saw in NZ. Japan is still remarkably safe.
