The Misadventures of Red

Our neighbors, Mike and Jean, took care of our pets while we were gone. Jean is the cat caretaker. Friday, I called her, not to check on the cats, particularly, as I knew they were well cared for, but just because Jean is one of my best friends, and it’s odd not to talk to her every day. She mentioned that the kitties were fine, but she hadn’t seen Red. Uh oh. He has a knack for getting himself locked in places. I told her his favorite hiding spots. She went right over and looked. Indeed, he had gotten himself shut in my closet. Apparently, since he had nothing to eat or drink for the two days he was a shut-in, he didn’t leave any presents in the closet. Jean did say he was very glad to see her, and meowed and rubbed against her legs profusely. He’s been very needy since we got home. We’ll check to be sure where he is before we leave next time.

Enjoy the neediness and affection while it lasts, he’ll be back to his old self soon, strutting about and ignoring you! (So speaks the voice of experience.)
