Enough already

5 day forecast

The forecast shows not over 100 Thursday & Friday, but I’ve seen another forecast that did.  I’m betting on over 100.  I love a warm climate, but this is a bit much.

Tell me about it. Today we had 97F, with 80% humidity. Next month will be far, far worse – it will be like living in a rainforest. Central cooling is rare in Japan. Every summer I lose several pounds in sweat alone. And you wonder why we walk around with handtowels in our handbags?

Oh, that’s hideous with that humidity. Far worse. And we do at least have central cooling. Of course, our summer electric bills are $400+/month. Our ac runs about 18 hours a day. At the peak heat of the day here our humidity is around 25% to 30%. And we always have a breeze.

No breeze in summer here. Actually, no change in daytime or nighttime temps, either. I have one AC unit, and we co-sleep in summer to take advantage of it. Our electricity bills run about $60 in summer, and $30 in winter, but that’s only because we are both out of the house for most of the day.

Summer is the only time of year that I actually miss NZ!

We’re moving into the mid-90th right now, but – no humidity. As we are also living on the coastal side of the city, we do get the sea breezes. On the other side of the mountains, in “The Valley,” temperatures are already in the triple digit range (and of course, no breeze).

We were over there on Sunday – the difference in temperatures is quite remarkable.

Note to self: Never, ever, move into the valley.

It got up to 102 yesterday. So much for weather forecasting.
