Sadly Unsurprising

It’s hardly a secret that I pretty much despise the Catholic church. Apparently, there are many others who are coming to feel the same. It is incidents like this that make it harder and harder for rational, compassionate people to tolerate the Vatican. Of course, as noted in the title of this post, this is exactly what may have been expected of the man-crones that make up the hierarchy. Disgusting, evil bastards, in my opinion. They went to great lengths to cover up pedophilia amongst their clergy, but are avid to publicly condemn others who violate “doctrine”.

One of the things most interesting about this article is the fact that it is from an Irish newspaper. Ireland has historically been a bastion of Catholicism. This article seems to me to be anti-Catholic in its tone, or at least, certainly disapproving of the actions of the Brazilian church. Even more interesting are the comments following the article; those are overwhelmingly against the decision and many are outright anti-Catholic. Maybe there’s hope for the world after all.

    I am speechless.

A terribly sad case to read about, the comments were interesting though. I dislike all fundamentalist religions, not just the Catholic one. Just the other day some of my ladies were talking about how Buddhism has long discriminated against women and minorities, some of what they told me really surprised me.

Yes, I agree, Miko. Fundamentalist religions are scary. We even have some churches in which handling venomous snakes is part of their “ritual”. That’s just wackadoodle.

Yikes! But I bet if a snake bites a worshipper, the poor snake dies. Ha ha ha!
