A compromise has been reached

The girl looks happy, and even slightly plumper – I’d say she’s up to 90 pounds now.  Her long-suffering parents have agreed to let her go to London for two weeks next month (they successfully bargained down from six months in Paris, which was her original demand) and then when she returns, she’s going to spend three days on her own in the Magic Kingdom, every young girl’s dream!

My worry is, what happens when she returns to her regular life in Japan?

My suggestion: worry about that once regular life in Japan begins again.

Right now there seems to be weight gain – and that is the most and all important fact.

I agree! It is great news that she has put on a little weight. I will keep my fingers crossed that this state of affairs continues once she returns to normal life in Japan.

Thanks for your support, you guys. It’s burdensome to be the all-knowing, all-seeing gaijin at times and in many respects, Japan is several decades behind the Western world when it comes to these issues, but this is extremely hard to explain to them. Speaking of issues, give me sons any day! The only food issue they have is of quantity – basically, they don’t care what they eat as long as there’s plenty of it.
